Wordless Wednesday – Tangible proof.

RCDonation03-2014

I received this in my e-mail this week. It’s a great feeling when you get tangible proof that something you’ve done will help someone else.

If you’re living with diabetes and living in the USA, you may be able to donate blood. To find out more, go to redcrossblood.org.

Thanks so much for this post! For years I thought, “I have diabetes and they won’t take my blood”…..but I’m not really sure where I got that idea from? Was it an old restriction they have since taken away? Or maybe I just convinced myself that was the case? Regardless, glad to know I CAN donate blood!!!

I’m not sure of a restriction earlier, but that’s possible. Today, you can give blood in the USA (not in Canada or the UK) if you’re “well controlled on insulin or oral medications”, and you’ve never used bovine(cow)-based insulin to treat your diabetes.
